Hardy synthetic and blended fabrics get hot water extraction (often called steam cleaning), which flushes soil out and pulls the moisture straight back up. Delicate fabrics such as linen, velvet, wool and bouclé get a gentler low-moisture clean, and leather couches and lounges are cleaned and conditioned by hand, never steamed. Stains and pet urine are pre-treated separately, because wine, ink, grease and urine each need different chemistry.
