Local service
Walkerville is a small, old-money pocket strung along Walkerville Terrace, one of the oldest and most affluent addresses in Adelaide. The homes are substantial and many are heritage, and the furniture inside tends to reflect that — quality lounges, some genuinely antique pieces, and a lot of value sitting in the front rooms.
You see a broader range of high-end upholstery here than almost anywhere in the metro: hand-made frames, wool and mohair, older leather chesterfields, the occasional inherited antique that is as much furniture as heirloom. These are not pieces anyone treats casually, and they are not pieces to experiment on. The value of the item raises the stakes on every decision about how to clean it.
The defining concern in Walkerville is risk, not dirt. On a valuable or antique lounge the wrong method does not merely fail to clean — it can cause damage that is expensive to put right or cannot be undone at all. Owners here are, sensibly, less worried about the stain than about handing a costly piece of furniture to someone who might harm it. That trust has to be earned before the work starts.
We treat high-value pieces conservatively. Fabric and colour-fastness testing on every lounge, the gentlest effective method rather than the most aggressive, and an honest conversation up front about anything genuinely antique or fragile, where the right answer may be a specialist restorer rather than us. We carry public liability insurance and can provide the certificate on request. On a piece like this, knowing when to be cautious is the whole job.

Walkerville questions
Yes. We carry public liability insurance and are happy to provide the certificate on request before we start — on a high-value piece that is a fair thing to ask for. The better protection, though, is method: we test first and use the gentlest effective approach precisely so nothing goes wrong. Insurance is the backstop, not the plan.
Sometimes, and sometimes the honest answer is that it needs a specialist upholstery restorer rather than a cleaner. We will tell you which on inspection. Many older quality pieces clean up beautifully with a careful low-moisture method. But if a frame or fabric is truly fragile, we would rather point you to the right person than risk it for the sake of taking the job.
