Local service
Pooraka sits right next door to Mawson Lakes, where we are based, just off Main North Road. It is best known as the home of the Adelaide Produce Market, but behind the industrial and market strip is a suburb of established family homes, units and a steady stream of newer housing, much of it owned by young and growing families.
Because so much of Pooraka is newer or recently renovated, we see a lot of new furniture here: large L-shaped and chaise sofa beds, storage modulars and microsuede or performance-fabric lounges bought for a first home or a growing family. In the older homes the typical couch is a practical fabric three-seater or lounge suite that has done years of family duty. Darker greys and charcoals are popular in both, chosen to hide marks, though they still show lint, pet hair and the shine that comes from body oils on the arms and headrests.
Two very different requests come in from this area. The first is protection: people with a new or nearly-new couch who want to keep it that way before kids, pets and takeaway nights take their toll. The second is the opposite end of a couch's life: seats and arms greyed with oils, food spills, and pet accidents on a hard-working family lounge. Shift workers and market workers also often need a booking outside standard hours.
For new couches, we check the fabric first (microsuede, performance fabrics and leather-look materials each behave differently), vacuum thoroughly, then apply Scotchgard-style fabric protection in an even coat and groom the pile so it dries uniform. Protection is applied straight after a clean on used couches, never over dirt. For family lounges we pre-treat the oily contact zones, target spills and pet marks, then extract the whole piece. Being next door to our base, Pooraka is usually easy to fit in at short notice, early or late in our 7am to 7pm day.

Pooraka questions
Yes, if it is genuinely new or was cleaned recently. We vacuum it thoroughly, check the fabric suits the protector, then apply an even coat and groom the pile as it dries. A Scotchgard-only visit is from $60. On a couch that has been used for a while, we recommend a clean first so the protector is not sealing dirt in.
Pooraka is right next to our Mawson Lakes base, so it is one of the easiest suburbs for us to reach. Same-day service is often available, 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm.
