Local service
Burnside sits in the leafy eastern foothills, and the housing tells you what to expect before you walk in the door — stone villas, character bungalows and a fair share of quality wool and linen-blend lounges. This is furniture that was bought to last, and in a lot of Burnside homes it has. It is worth keeping, and worth cleaning properly.
The eastern suburbs hold onto their good furniture. We see a lot of wool three-seaters, linen chesterfields and older velvet pieces in Burnside — fabrics that reward a careful clean and punish a careless one. Natural fibres behave differently to the synthetic blends in a newer estate: wool can shrink, some dyes migrate when they get too wet, and a heavy-handed steam clean can leave a watermark ring that is worse than the stain you started with. Fabric composition drives the method here, not the other way around.
Two problems come up again and again in Burnside. The first is sun-fade — north-facing living rooms in the foothills catch a lot of afternoon light, and over years it dulls one side of a lounge while the other stays true. Cleaning will not reverse fade, and we will tell you that honestly rather than take your money and disappoint you. The second is the fear itself: people with a good wool lounge have usually been told by someone that steam cleaning will ruin it. Sometimes that person was right, which is exactly why we test first.
Every Burnside couch gets fabric-tested in an inconspicuous spot before any water touches it. If the fibre is wool, delicate, or shows any sign of dye instability, it gets a low-moisture clean rather than a hot water extraction — same result, no risk of shrinkage or bleed. If it is a stable synthetic or a hardy blend, it gets the full steam treatment, because that is what lifts embedded grime. We would rather spend ten minutes testing than replace a lounge suite. Published pricing applies either way; the method changes, the price does not.

Mechanisms and all — cleaned carefully, never soaked.
An invisible shield that buys you time on the next spill.
How it works
We check fibre type and colour-fastness before anything touches your couch.
Problem spots get targeted treatment before the main clean.
Hot water extraction, deep into the fibres where the grime lives.
Powerful vacuum pulls the moisture back out. Dry in 3–6 hours.
Optional Scotchgard, then a final deodorise so it smells as clean as it looks.

Burnside questions
Not if it is tested first. Wool and wool-blends can shrink or watermark if they are over-wetted, which is why we fabric-test every couch before we start rather than assuming. If the test suggests any risk, we switch to a low-moisture clean instead of hot water extraction. You get the same result without gambling with the piece.
No, and we will say so before you book rather than after. Cleaning lifts dirt, body oils and stains — it cannot restore colour that UV has bleached out of the fibre. A lot of eastern-suburbs lounges have one faded side from years of afternoon light. What cleaning will do is even out the appearance by removing the grime that makes the whole thing look tired.

Most couches are dry in 3–6 hours. We use high-powered extraction to pull most of the moisture back out during the clean, and we’ll leave you with simple tips to speed it up.
Yes — it’s one of our most common jobs. We use an enzyme treatment that breaks down the odour at its source rather than masking it with fragrance. Old, repeated accidents can need a second pass; we’ll tell you honestly on inspection.
Yes. Leather gets a different process to fabric — a gentle hand clean and conditioning treatment, no steam. It lifts grime and body oils without drying or cracking the hide.
Most, but not all. We fabric-test every couch before we start. Delicate or moisture-sensitive fabrics get a low-moisture dry clean instead — same result, safer method.
Often, but not always — and we won’t pretend otherwise. We’ll tell you upfront what we expect to lift and what may remain, before any money changes hands.
